Terms for customers
Last updated Sunday 4 October 2026
These terms cover using Booklier to find, chat with and book providers. Please read them before you pay a deposit. Nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
Booklier is run by Shane Levins trading as Booklier, 35a Rosemount Estate, Dundrum, Dublin 14. Contact: info@booklier.com.
1. What Booklier is
Booklier is an online marketplace. It helps you find local providers, such as kids party entertainers and musicians, chat with them, agree the details and book them.
The providers are independent businesses. When you book, your contract for the service is with the provider, not with Booklier, and the provider is responsible for delivering it. Every provider confirms to us that they offer their services as a business, so the consumer rights you have when you buy from a business apply to your booking with them.
Booklier runs the website, the chat and the payments made through it, and deals with cancellations and problems as these terms describe. You don't pay Booklier a booking fee: our fee comes out of the provider's side.
2. Your account
- You need to be 18 or over to use Booklier.
- Please give accurate details and keep your login to yourself. You're responsible for what's done with your account.
3. Enquiries and the chat
- Sending an enquiry is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
- Phone numbers, email addresses, links and social media are hidden, on provider pages and in the chat, until you book. That keeps both of you protected and your booking covered by these terms.
- Please don't try to swap contact details before booking, or pay a provider you found here outside Booklier. If you do, the refunds in sections 5 and 6 won't cover you.
- Be respectful. Nothing abusive, threatening, discriminatory or illegal.
- We may read chats to keep Booklier safe, sort out problems and check these terms are followed. Our privacy notice explains more.
4. Booking and paying
- Once you've agreed the details in the chat, the provider sends you an offer with the price, the date and the deposit.
- Paying the deposit confirms the booking. You then each get the other's contact details.
- You pay the deposit through Booklier on the provider's behalf. Card payments are handled by Stripe, and Booklier never sees your card number.
- You pay the rest (the balance) to the provider on the day, unless you agree otherwise with them.
- Your card is saved securely with Stripe when you pay the deposit. If the provider tells us after the event that the balance wasn't paid, we can charge that balance to the saved card.
- We always tell you first, in the chat and by email, and you have at least 48 hours to answer. If you tell us in the chat that you have already paid, or that you don't think you owe it, nothing is charged until we have looked at it and told you both what we decided, and why. We may ask you for anything that shows you paid, such as a receipt or a bank transfer, so please pay the balance in a way that leaves a record, or ask for a receipt if you pay in cash.
- The provider can only ask us up to 14 days after the event. We never charge more than the balance in your offer, and never while a problem you reported with the booking is still being looked at. If your bank refuses the card, we ask you to pay with another card or to pay the provider directly.
5. Cancelling
- If you cancel, the deposit isn't refunded, because the provider kept the date free for you. Bookings are for leisure services on a set date, so the 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases doesn't apply. If you'd like a different date instead, ask the provider in the chat first.
- If the provider cancels, you get your whole deposit back to the card you paid with. It usually shows within 5 to 10 working days. Your other rights against the provider aren't affected.
6. If something goes wrong
- If the provider doesn't turn up, the service is clearly not what you booked, or you have a safety concern, report it from the chat on the day or within 2 days after.
- We ask the provider for their side, decide, and tell you both our reasons. If we uphold a report that the provider didn't turn up or that the service was clearly not what you booked, we can refund your deposit.
- Booklier can refund what was paid through Booklier: the deposit, and the balance if it was charged to your card through us. For money paid straight to the provider, or anything else, your claim is with the provider, and your legal rights against them aren't affected.
- If anyone is in danger, contact the Gardaí or the police first.
7. Reviews
- Only customers who booked and paid a deposit through Booklier can review a provider, after the date of the booking. One review per booking.
- Reviews must be honest, about your own experience of that booking.
- We check reviews under 5 stars before they appear, to make sure they follow the rules below. We never remove, hide or change a review because it's negative. We only turn one down, or take it down later, if it is: abusive, threatening or offensive; includes personal or contact details; not about the booking or the service; looks fake, or written by someone connected to the provider; breaks the law or discusses a legal dispute. We tell you why.
- Providers can reply publicly to reviews. Nobody is paid or rewarded for reviews.
8. How we order providers
You choose a service and an area, and only see providers who offer that service there. We then list them by a score from their reliability, reviews, how quickly they reply, how complete their page is and their recent bookings, with a few places for providers new to Booklier. You can also sort the list yourself. Nobody can pay to appear higher. The provider guide has the details.
9. Reporting content
If you see anything on Booklier that's illegal or breaks these terms, such as a page, a message or a review, tell info@booklier.com and say where it is and why. We'll look at it, act where needed, and tell you what we did. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break the rules, and we tell the person affected why.
10. Our responsibility to you
We run Booklier with reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for the services providers deliver, as they're independent businesses, or for things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
11. Changes, complaints and the law
- We may update these terms. The version in force when you pay a deposit applies to that booking.
- If you're unhappy with Booklier, tell info@booklier.com. We aim to reply within 14 days.
- These terms are governed by Irish law. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts.
