Getting paid

Deposits, the balance on the day, and what to do when it is not paid.

When does the deposit reach me?

Your share of the deposit goes to your Stripe account when the customer pays, and from there to your bank. While you are new to Booklier, your share of your first few bookings waits until shortly after the day of each one, so customers are covered if something goes wrong. After that it is paid out straight away.

Your Payouts from Booklier screen shows every deposit and where it is. The provider guide has the details.

How is the rest of the price paid?

The customer pays you directly on the day, however you agree with them: a bank transfer, Revolut or cash.

  • Tell them before the day how you would like to be paid. A message in the chat a few days ahead is ideal.
  • A transfer leaves a record by itself. If you are paid in cash, send them a message to say you got it.
  • Mark the balance as paid in the chat afterwards, so your records are complete.

The customer did not pay the balance on the day. What now?

  1. Ask for it in writing the same day, and keep the message. The Booklier chat is the best place, as we can see it there.
  2. If it is still not paid, tell us from the chat. You can do this from the day after the booking.
  3. We tell the customer and give them time to answer. If they say nothing, the card they paid the deposit with is charged and the money comes to your Stripe account, less a share to cover the card fee.

If the customer says they have already paid you, we ask you both for anything in writing. If you cannot show that you asked for the balance, the card is not charged. The provider guide says how long you have and what is kept.

What is a chargeback, and who pays for it?

A chargeback is when a customer asks their own bank to take a card payment back. If the bank agrees, that payment is yours to bear, as it is for any business that takes cards, along with the bank's fee. We email you what was taken and why. The provider guide sets out the amounts.

The best protection is a clear offer, a day that matches it, and messages kept in the chat.

Does my commission rate ever change?

It falls as you complete more bookings, and stays down while you stay busy. If you are going to be away, plan it as a holiday on your Your standing screen and your rate cannot drop while you are off. The provider guide has the ladder.
