Insurance
Showing customers you are insured, and keeping it up to date.
Do I need insurance to be on Booklier?
Booklier does not insure you or your work, and under the provider terms any insurance your work needs is yours to arrange. Public liability cover is the usual kind for people who work at events: it is the cover for a guest being hurt or something being damaged at an event. Many halls, hotels and schools ask to see it before they let anyone work there.
An insurance broker can tell you what cover fits what you do. Tell them everything you offer, such as bouncy castles, face paints, animals or sound and lighting equipment, as some things need to be named on the policy.
How do I show customers that I am insured?
- In your dashboard, open Insurance.
- Type your insurer, your policy number, the name the policy is in and the day your cover runs out, exactly as they are on your certificate.
- Choose your certificate as a PDF and press Upload and check my certificate.
The certificate is read automatically and compared with what you typed. If it all matches, it is accepted at once and your page says you are insured.
It says my certificate does not match what I typed. What do I do?
The screen lists exactly what is different: the name, the date, the policy number or the insurer. Check each box against your certificate, put right anything that is different, and upload it again.
If you are sure what you typed is right, tick the box at the foot of the form and Booklier will look at it by hand and email you. Your page does not say you are insured until it is accepted.
What kind of file do you need?
A PDF of your certificate or policy schedule, up to 5 MB. Your insurer or broker can email it to you as a PDF. A photo is not accepted, as it cannot be read reliably.
Who sees my certificate?
Only you and Booklier. Customers never see the certificate or your policy number. They only see that you are insured.
What happens when my insurance runs out?
We email you a month before. When you renew, upload the new certificate and your page carries on saying you are insured. If no new one is uploaded, that line comes off your page by itself the day after your cover runs out, and goes back as soon as a new certificate is accepted.
