A page that gets booked

What customers look for, and what moves you up the search results.

What makes a strong page?

Your dashboard has a Page strength screen that ticks these off as you do them:

  • A profile photo and at least 5 gallery photos.
  • At least 150 words about you, which mention the places you cover.
  • A tagline: one line that says what you do.
  • A video, if you have one. Even 30 seconds of you at work helps.
  • At least one package with a price, and what each package includes.
  • Your services and the areas you work in.

Page strength is one of the things search order is worked out from. The provider guide lists all of them.

What photos work best?

  • Real photos of you at work, not stock pictures. Customers want to see what will turn up at their door.
  • Bright, in focus, and taken sideways (landscape) where you can, so they fill the space.
  • Show people enjoying it as well as yourself, and only use a photo of someone who has said yes.
  • One photo for each thing you offer, and one of your set-up.
  • Leave words and logos off the photos. Your name is already on the page.
For children's entertainers
  • Show the children's reactions, but only use a photo with a child in it if their parent has said yes.
  • One photo for each character, the balloon models and the face painting.
For musicians
  • One photo of the full line-up playing, and one of each smaller line-up you offer.
  • A short video with good sound does more than any photo.

What should I write in my About section?

Write it the way you would say it to a customer on the phone. The things they want to know:

  • What a booking with you is like, from start to finish.
  • Who it suits, and how many people.
  • How long you have been doing it.
  • Where you travel to.
  • What you need from them: a room, a table, a plug, parking.

Only say what is true and what you could show if a customer asked. See Can I say I am insured or vetted?

How should I set out my packages and prices?

  • One package for each thing a customer can book, with a name they would use themselves: "1 hour magic show" or "Wedding band, two sets", not "Gold".
  • Say what is included: how long, how many people it is for, and what you bring.
  • Give a real price. Pages with prices get more enquiries than pages that say "ask for a quote".
  • If travel costs extra beyond a certain distance, say so in the package, so nobody is surprised.
For children's entertainers
  • Say how many children it is for, and what each child takes home.
For musicians
  • Say how many sets and how long each is, how many of you are playing, and whether sound and lights are included.

Can I say I am insured or vetted?

Insured: only while a certificate you have uploaded is in date. Until then, a sentence on your page that says you are insured is left out of what customers see. How insurance works on Booklier.

Vetted, qualified, award-winning and so on: Booklier does not check these today, so only say what is true and be ready to show it when a customer asks. Under the provider terms you are responsible for any vetting, licences or permits your work needs.
